Well that was 2008.. and my intentions to blog, albeit erratically came to nought. Too much work really. Traveling, exhibiting, working on commissions and trying to finish a Phd make life very pressured.. I like to spend time with my family and in my garden, so the blog became erratic to the point of non existence... then when I thought about it there was the question... how to start it again? Well today in the midst of a commission with a Jan 8 deadline, and Christmas... and a still unfinished Phd I decided to add an entry .. and here it is... Minimal... but I will add more in the next few days, distilling the year into a few lines and lots of pics....

A lot of time this year has been taken up with a commission for Maryport, on the Cumbrian Coast... I have been co-authoring a signage strategy for the Georgian town, with landscape architect Jayne Garbutt. We hope that as a result of our work, the cluttered and poor quality signage will be eventually be replaced by new bespoke enamel. Alongside the signage work I was commissioned to make new interpretation panels for various sites around the town.. they should be in place by mid February 2009, and I’ll post some pics of the work when its installed

Maryport has some fine, diverse traditional signage, which we hope will be renovated,

Logan’s Butchers used to have these fine painted tiles in their entrance way. Sadly the new owners have painted over them, so they are no longer visible.... These images were taken a few years ago....

More stuff to follow very soon.. bye...
