ECA and AIR ECA and AIR 13 May 2009 This is the entrance to the office of Dansk Kunstnerrad - a Danish association of ‘18 professional arts organizations representing creative and working artists in the fields of visual arts, actors, architects, craftsmen, film workers, photographers, stage designers, etc’. Based in Copenhagen it also houses the office of the <a href="http://www.eca.dk/">European Council of Artists</a>. On my way back from Sweden last month I had a meeting here to discuss <a href="http://www.a-n.co.uk/artists/air">AIR</a> membership of the ECA. I’ve been involved with <a href="http://www.a-n.co.uk/about_an/article/473466">a-n The Artists Information Company</a> since 1987 when I edited a ceramics supplement for the magazine, and since 1999 as a member of the board. AIR has evolved from a-n to be a representative body for visual artists, and has been in existence since 2007. a-n provides the secretariat for AIR and its <a href="http://www.a-n.co.uk/artists/air/article/335841">Advisory Group of Artists</a>. Membership automatically provides public liability insurance for visual artists professional practice, as well as full access to a-n’s digital information and a separate AIR web space. AIR now has in excess of 11,500 members.
